Reporting to the Field Investigation & Enforcement Manager for the Revenue Assurance Program, the Field Investigator is responsible for conducting field investigations for the Field Inspection Program.
DUTIES: The successful candidate:
- · Conducts investigations of a highly confidential nature regarding energy losses and potential thefts, including situations with employee/contractor involvement and/or stolen BC Hydro assets, throughout BC
- · Ensures the protection of security sensitive information and plans and, where thefts are confirmed, provides evidence to support criminal complaints and civil litigation
- · Responds to high profile physical and employee security incidents, as required
- · Directs the activities of electrical employees and/or contractors assigned to the field inspection program
- · Develops, writes and recommends standards, methodologies, procedures and guidelines for minimizing security risk
- · Maintains relationships with law enforcement and safety officials within their assigned region
- · Provides consulting services to management on a variety of energy theft issues and problems
- · May also direct and conduct security surveys and ensure adherence to standard procedures
- · Must be prepared to travel throughout the province of BC and posses a valid BC Driver's License
- · Must be prepared to work flexible and/or extended hours as required
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have:
- · A degree or post graduate degree in security related discipline
- · 8-10 years progressively more responsible security investigation experience, preferably in a corporate environment in the Electrical Utility industry or a minimum of 12 years police experience in major crime or complicated investigations
- · Proven expertise in the investigation of criminal offences and security breaches, interviewing of witnesses and gathering of evidence
- · Knowledge and experience in protection of critical infrastructure assets
- · Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with groups and individuals at all levels of the Corporation
- · Strong relationship management as well as proven ability to effectively collaborate with and influence stakeholders, both internal and external
- · Well established relationships within law enforcement
- · Experience in designing and implementing security operations and field investigations or be able to obtain, Government of Canada Security Clearance, minimum Secret Level II
- · A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
- · A willingness to travel for significant periods of time each month
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- · Both Full Time Regular and Full Time Temporary (up to 2 years) positions are available
- · Positions are available in Prince George, Vancouver Island, South Okanagan and the Lower Mainland.
