1972 R.C.M.P. INSIGNIA CHANGE

In 1972 amid controversy the R.C.M.P. changed their insignia to read simply the POLICE.

This alteration was noted in the press on Patrol Car Door Decals and on the outside of Station Houses across Canada.  Mr. Gerrit Swart, Vancouver, B.C., is looking for any veterans or members of the force who collect R.C.M.P. memorabilia that have 1972 INSIGNIA CHANGE press clippings or scrapbook items documenting the subject.  Apparently through his research some 72 newspapers that were in print at that time no longer exist.

It is hoped that VETERANS with unique clippings may be a major source of helpful information.  If any member or Veteran of the RCMP has any such information or photographs please contact the undersigned direct.
