VAC Expands Service to the RCMP

For some time, Veterans Affairs Canada has been adjudicating disability pension claims on behalf of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Once a decision was reached, VAC would send the information to the RCMP which, in turn, would communicate the results to the RCMP client who had applied for the disability pension. As of April 1, 2002, however, Veterans Affairs Canada assumed responsibility for directly notifying RCMP clients of the pension decision. This change in administration is part of a larger project that will see VAC take on a greater role in the management of disability pension payments for serving and retired RCMP members. It has no effect on client benefits or how they are accessed. If you are a serving or retired member of the RCMP with a question regarding:

  • the status of your pension application, contact the VAC Pension Inquiries Line at 1-800-774-7476;
  • your pension decision, contact your local VAC District Pension Officer;
  • your pension payment or retroactive adjustment cheques, contact the RCMP Canada Payment Inquiries Line at 1-800-661-7595.
