Fort McMurray, Alberta

Given what is happening in Fort McMurray, and being 40 years ago, some of these photos might be appreciated as at the time the duty district was the same, being Wandering River north to Janvier, Fort McMurray, Fort McKay, and Fort Chipewyan to Fort Smith, including the entire NE of Alta, with the Athabaska River to Athabaska Lake where in the spring, summer and fall, goods travelled the river on barges. There was 15/16 members of the Detachment, including 3 NCO/s and one Cst. Married with kids, and the rest single. I remember also we received one of the first CPIC huge heart for a Detachment providing access to all of five files??
The population was around 10,000 folks in the district including about 1,000 transients. GCOS (Suncor) was operating and Syncrude was talked about.
You might recognize some of the names as several became Commissioned Officers in their careers, starting off as single folks in Fort McMurray right out of training. I believe Cpl. Don Rumble has passed on, however, S/Sgt. Ken Sutherland is living I believe in Bowsman, Manitoba, or Swan River and has to be 80 plus.
