The Economist Article on Pensions

Submitted by Fred Lyle (Ottawa Div) and FSNA Director.

The attached article on pensions from the Economist has caused some discussions among some of my colleagues.  It summarizes some of the current thinking about pensions and where they are headed. While some of you may feel this does not apply to you because you are too young or too old I think that each one of us needs to at least be aware of this information and project where the pension plans, governments and each of us as individuals are going with our pensions and or our pension planning process.  It appears inconceivable that the present situation will continue without change.  Especially those still in the workforce some thought must be given to this information.  I feel the younger you are the more impact this will have on you.  If you are not interested in this I am sorry to bore you with it but I think we need to think about the issues raised in the article because other people and governments are thinking about it.
